Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 22, 2026

Nametag is developed by Grant Sherman. We built Nametag with privacy as a core principle. Your data stays on your device.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or have access to any of the following:

We do not operate servers or databases that receive your data. There are no user accounts, no login, and no registration.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Nametag stores the following data locally on your iPhone. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:

If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

3. Camera and Photo Library

Nametag requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you add profile photos. Photos are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone, including us.

4. Microphone and Speech Recognition

Nametag requests microphone access and uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework to let you answer quiz questions by voice.

The app uses on-device speech recognition when your device supports it (iOS 17+ devices with A9 chip or later). When on-device recognition is available, your voice data is processed entirely on your iPhone and never leaves the device.

On devices that do not support on-device recognition, Apple's Speech framework may send audio data to Apple's servers for processing. Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive or have access to any audio or transcription data in either case.

5. Purchases and Subscriptions

Nametag offers optional in-app purchases processed through Apple's App Store and managed by RevenueCat, Inc.

What Apple collects: When you make a purchase, Apple processes your transaction through your Apple Account. Apple's use of your data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

What RevenueCat processes: RevenueCat receives anonymized purchase receipt data from Apple to validate your subscription status. This includes an anonymous app user identifier and purchase history (transaction dates and subscription status). RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, Apple ID, or any personal information. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

We do not receive or store your payment information.

6. Third-Party Services

The only third-party service in Nametag is RevenueCat for subscription management, as described above. We do not use analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking tools.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. The only data that leaves your device is purchase transaction data processed by Apple and RevenueCat, and audio data that may be sent to Apple for speech recognition on devices that do not support on-device processing.

8. Children's Privacy

Nametag does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect personal information from any user, there is no age-gated data collection.

9. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to access, modify, or delete. All data resides on your device and is fully under your control. To delete all app data, delete Nametag from your device.

To manage your subscription, go to Settings on your iPhone → your name → Subscriptions → Nametag.

10. Security

All data stored by Nametag is protected by iOS's built-in security features, including device encryption and app sandboxing.

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective immediately upon posting with an updated date.
